Fun Boots! lives on

Afternoon, people.

Well the movie has been in a sleepy little daze lately but apparently people still watch it from time to time and that makes us feel good. Some of the incredible wakeskaters that can be seen in Fun Boots! will be up for grabs in the 2009 Wake Awards for Best Video Part. Congrats fellas, may the best man win!

Well KL and I and my new friend Jonna just had a great time down on the old filming locale and Scene One's favorite vacation spot, Anna Maria Island. It's pretty clear by now that the only reason Nick, Stu, Trav and anyone else from the 941 is even in the video is just because we like their hometown so much... ok that's a lie, it's cuz they are so amazing at wakeskating. but it works out nice.

anyway Jonna was nice enough to let us stay at her house and drive her electric smart car all over the island like true tourists. the GEM for life - we're really going green. so why would anybody care about this? probably no reason, but thanks to fun boots! we were able to make another excuse to celebrate.

Go listen to "One More Time" by Daft Punk, really puts things in perspective.

Keith and I had a great time at the first stop of the Toe Jam this year at OWC. What a wild ride that whole setup looked like, congrats to anyone who survived. Lant and I were pretty stoked on everything those two days, nothing could get us down. We even got the rare opportunity to shake hands and pass a copy of Fun Boots! to Corey Duffel, who was posted up at OWC watching the event and was the nicest guy you could hope to meet. Let's hope he makes it past the intro.

If you live in the 941 area tomorrow you may see two college-aged students from orlando with jewfros, pink sunglasses, and matching fun boots! tank tops in a champagne colored convertible blaring Eddie Money in your neighborhood sometime (check the Skinny's bar).

There's a contest going on for a free copy of fun boots! at alliancewakeskate.com, we really need you guys to enter so we can give away these copies. What else would stoke people up to buy the video? We're thinkin maybe a dunk tank or miniature pony rides.

what a time it has been lately, i have so much i want to share with everyone, even though i'm pretty sure no one reads this anymore...

I just got back from an amazing video premier for a film called BOX OF FUN. Collin Harrington did an awesome job on the editing, filming, music, and whole good times vibe the film carried consistently the whole way through. I don't even wakeboard and I enjoyed every second of it.

And last night was a good time by all at the outside premier of Billabong's video, Out of the Pond. This had a little bit of wakeskating in it from Mr. Grubb and then lots more wakeboarding, but it was cool and there was a lot of things in the film i had never seen before, like the snow jump, the c-rail at the system 2 cable, and some other interesting and creative forms of board riding. lots of winching, lots and lots of wakeboard winching. and a 1260, yes it was there. The film seemed very professional and expensive, which is what you would expect from a company that could afford to do it, but I really think i liked watching Box of Fun more. Maybe i could just relate to it better.

PLUS back on the 20th of this month I went to the premier of 420 Films' "I'm Just Skiing." This flick had much more wakeSKATING which was rad, but not to worry strappers, Vinny Knapp was loud and proud in his boots doing flips down huge drops...wild man. he was also kickflipping gaps on a wakeskate, how crazy is that? Then theres that guy Nick Dauzat, well he shredded pretty hard and does crazy grind combos on a-frame rails and also isn't afraid of anything. Our boy Justin FoRRest proved his monday cover worthiness with the documented hardflip down the salty fresh gap...yeah buddy. There were all kinds of highlights from this night, such as Savi Fernandez and his band of irie spirited fellows keeping the vibes pretty heady and the magic man James McGuigan sporting a classy looking stache. I didn't know he had it in him. Great shredding too by the way, james.

I like all those video premier parties cuz I know how great the people that make them are feeling. It's a big project to get completely done with, and not an easy task to push through. congrats to all the filmmakers on their accomplishments.

laptop is on the hiatus so i cant share some great pictures i have right now, but you'll know it when its back.

so there you have it! i like this because the high number of the 1260 automatically baffles people into an interest in their product. I also like how "The One" also works as a metaphor for danny harf (much respect). it's a very cultural/American/iconic/Jedi master style of wordplay.

I have been hearing rumors of people actually finally getting their hands on Fun Boots!, and it is music to my ears. The ironic thing is I haven't even seen what the final product looks like, all packaged up in a bright shiny dvd case with plastic wrapping it up tightly... my child. Anyway, they are now available in some shops and pretty soon will be all over. If your local shop doenst carry it then ask for it! they can order it through Sidewayz really easy, and even get a little deal if they order a dozen or more.

ever since we finished the movie keith and i have had ample leisure time for all kinds of activities, such as:
- taking OURSELVES wakeskating
- not filming anything
- golf
- walking our dogs
- reading
- banjo
- MC hammer shows
- finding long lost relatives

anyway, hope you guys like the video. it'll be done thursday.

GOOD NEWS OF GREAT JOY

Well people the day has finally come and the video is done and getting replicated as we speak!!

We apologize for the delay after the premier to get it all the way done and ready for replication, but we think you will all be stoked on the abundance of bonus footage and also the couple small things we had to fix on the final product.  Anyway, we should have the replication all done within 2 weeks and maybe another week or two for it to show up in your local shop or online retailer.  We cant wait for everyone to see this thing finally.

thats right i am off to texas for a little premiere action! and im starting to realize it has been long as hell since i went out of town for more then a couple of days. im trying to remember the concept of packing a bag for more then just a night and the fact that there might be these climate changes! if anyone is going to be in the austin area head on over to the dirty dog on 6th street this friday the 13th. i will be there in full form so come say hey! 

i dont know if anyone saw this but matt "ice face" hooker is officially the man!!! 

on another note.... mikey "true as shit" tarrentelli has been kind enough to donate some stuff for the austin premiere.

In other news Nick has officially made the transport out West to California as I'm sure you all know because I pray you go on alliance's website far more than this one. Anyway Nick, buddy, good luck out there, have fun in the Philippines.

On that note, It's important to note I am taking Andrew to the airport at 7am tomorrow morning for his flight out towards the Philippines to join nick and the rest of the Nike guys on some shredding out there. Andy we are all going to miss you at the house and in Orlando (coming from Rolo, TJ, Dave, and Mr. Nasty). Ben and Silas dropped by earlier, great seeing those two as always.

working hard

i promise we are working hard to finish this DVD for everyone that wasn't at the premier can finally see what we have done. I figure that is the question on everyone's mind, when is it going to be out for sale. It takes about 2-3 weeks for replication to be completed and it will probably take us another full week or so to finish the DVD completely. We told ourselves not to premier it until it was completely done, but unfortunately it didn't work out like that. Not to worry though people, we are adding some great bonus sections you will be stoked for, like a Tyler-TJ-Kirby section and some serious shredding from Collin Gee. Plus plenty of random antics and funny moments caught on film. We also had to fix some problems with the actual movie itself.

so that's the update, sorry it's not done yet.

what a night

last night we FINALLY actually premiered Fun Boots!, and i still can't believe anything within the past 24 hours actually happened. Here's the basic breakdown:

Sunday, Jan. 18 "The Day Before"
10:53am: I am burning a copy of my parts i have done onto a DVD, and several problems with the playback, slight panic.
2:44pm: I go to keith's house and get his parts from him (Nick, Ben, Stu) so I can make the final dvd. Still no intro. Inform KL about the problems. Keith has to leave for work.
5:15pm: Burning a copy of ALL the parts (so sick!) with the teaser as our intro (lame.)
8:10pm: DVDs play great out of the laptop, but not so great out of a DVD player. It's decided we have two faulty dvd players... ?
9:10pm: LAZY MOOOOOOON is so fire
10:36pm: Working on a credits section and waiting around for rendering and what not. Dominate the pool table.

Monday, Jan. 19 "The Day of Dance, The Night of Gnar"
2:21pm (4 hrs 39 mins to premier): Keith walks in the front door like he is carrying salvation in his back pocket. What a hero. Glorious intro is added to the final DVD timeline as well as the credits section.
2:45pm: Cruise over to Frye's house to borrow some cables so we can play the movie through a laptop. Boss and Toby get wild and I get wrecked 4 times on their mini ramp in a course of 30 seconds.
3:35pm: Testing equipment, load up car.
5:08pm: Go rent screen before the shop closes.
5:38pm: Arrive and start set up at Semoran Skateway.
7:02pm: We arrive back at the house to find strobe lights, bassets, crazy people, and French dance music completely taking over. Decide to join in.
8:12pm: Departure for the skating rink. Never have I seen more Fun Boots! tanks on more crazy people before in my life.
8:35pm: Arrive at the skateway and do not take off my skates until after the movie is finished.
9:41pm: FUN BOOTS! BEGINS
9:44pm: Trav's part glitches out hahahaha but we fix it
10:12pm: Andy's part begins.
10:21pm: Andy's part ends.
10:40pm: My grandma made a Fun Boots! cake!!!
11:00pm: Everyone is out of the skateway and says their goodbyes
11:o1pm-now: party
