south florida winch trip

Well it has been quite a trip thus far, and the freedom of summer has been ringing gloriously through the highways of South Florida in the form of four young adventure-seekers by the names of Ben Horan, Andrew Pastura, Roland Lugo, and myself. We headed straight from Orlando to Fort Lauderdale for two days with our host Grasso (the Boss-o). After some quality shredding and some real good finds in the forms of cement ledges and big drops.

Our next destination was across state in Fort Myers, aka “the 239,” where we knew Matt Engel and Stink would be holding it down pretty hard. Despite some dried up winch gaps (some that brought a tear to my eye to think of their potential), we still got some good times and footage in at Engel’s home lake and even got to session Fort Myer’s new soon-to-be-open cable park. Check it out when you get the chance, it was so fun and the cable is nice. Big thanks to those guys for letting us ride and giving Andrew the opportunity to learn some gnarly tricks off the incline rail.

It was time soon enough to leave the dirty south of the 239 and creep up into Anna Maria Island to meet up with Nick Taylor and do some quality island riding. He took us to his secret rail spot with two jet skis and some impressive switch lines up his sleeve. Watching Nick ride in his home waters shows a new style to his riding, and I’m really stoked on capturing that kind of footage of him. Nick shreds anywhere, though, congrats on the Toe Jam victory buddy!

So now we are posted up in St. Petersburg, Florida on my dad’s sailboat, figuring out what different gaps we will hit within the next two days. It’s been great so far and the crew is tight as ever. Trips like these are the best!
